In 2015, Stellar Awards Founder and Executive Producer Don Jackson introduced the Stellar Awards Honors paying tribute to individuals who have been trailblazers and trendsetters in Gospel music.  The inaugural honorees included Pastor Shirley Caesar, Byron Cage, Clifton Davis, Kirk Franklin, Vickie Winans, Dottie Peoples, Ricky Dillard, Vicki Mack Lataillade, Dr. Leonard Scott and Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones.

 

Its a changing ostellar-awards-logof the guard as Stellar Awards producer Barbara Wilson passes the baton to Deborah Byrd.  Wilson has helmed production efforts for the show since the very first show taped at Chicago’s Arie Crown Theater in 1985.  We talked with Barbara Wilson some years back, see our interview here. While taking a step back, Wilson is not going off the scene entirely, she will maintain an active presence with the show as executive consultant.

Habakkuk StellarAlbumMusic in partnership with Central City Productions will release a commemorative compilation album celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Stellar Gospel Music Awards. The very special collector’s edition disc will be comprised of performances by fifteen of the most legendary names to grace the Stellar Awards stage.  The CD hits stores and digital outlets on March 31st.

The nominees for the final ballot of the  2014 Stellar Awards were announced today by Don Jackson.  Tasha Cobbs, Tamela Mann, Anthony Brown and Group Therapy and Tye Tribbett garner multiple nods in various categories including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, CD of the Year and Producer of the Year.  Bishop Paul Morton, Jekalyn Carr and Twinkie Clark  also received multiple nominations.  Listed below is the full list  covering 28 categories including the newly added Fan Favorite Quartet :
