Hey GOSPELflava Family!  This is Martin checking in On this edition of “Road To The Stellars” we are traveling to the great city of Nashville, TN to catch up with Pastor Wess Morgan!

Now in case you didn’t know he’s nominated for “Song of The Year” for his smash worship anthem, “I Choose To Worship”. You’ve probably seen him on TBN on numerous occasions and as “Peter” in Tyler Perry’s stage play, “Laugh To Keep From Crying”.  Let’s check in with the Stellar Award Nominee as he preps for January.

GOSPELflava: Pastor it’s alway so good to sit down and chat with you.  As an independent artist, how does it feel to be nominated for Song Of The Year for the 2012 Stellar Awards?

Pastor Wess Morgan:  I’m very excited and so humbled by the fact that this song has been nominated for a Stellar for Song of the Year. That’s a huge honor! My label (BowTie World Music)  was originally started just so I would have a vehicle to share my music, but seeing the things my team & I accomplished with this song and the Under An Open Heaven record we’re looking forward to helping other artists share their talent as well.

GOSPELflava: . For many ” I Choose To Worship” has been their anthem so the song placing into the “Song of The Year” category is no surprise. Are you surprised at the reaction each time you minister the song?

Pastor Wess Morgan: To be honest, when I wrote this song I wrote it for me.  I didn’t write it to be a smash hit.  The song was simply me speaking the sentiments of my heart as I was going through my process.  It amazes me that it has connected with so many people across the country and lets me know that we all realize that worship is a choice and not a feeling.

GOSPELflava: Well before the Stellars we still have to get through this joyous holiday season that’s upon us, Any special plans this year in the Wess household?

Pastor Wess Morgan: My family is focusing on giving this year rather than just receiving.  Last year we did a Christmas concert and Toy Drive in Nashville at my church Celebration of Life and were able to bless 100 kids. This year we’re having that event again, plus we’ve added a second one in Jackson, TN. They’re both part of a Christmas Concert series the label is going to do annually called The Spirit of Giving
