Funeral Arrangements Set For Aretha Franklin
The Detroit Free Press is reporting these arrangements for the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, who passed away on Thursday, August 17 th.
There will be an official wake and public viewing Aug. 28-29 at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Midtown, where Franklin will lie in state. The viewing will run 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
The funeral will take place on August 31st At Detroit’s Greater Grace Temple. The Church, founded by the light bishop David Ellis, which seats about 4,000, has been the site of funerals for many notable Detroit figures, including Rosa Parks, Marcus Belgrave and the Four Tops’ Levi Stubbs.
The funeral, at 10 a.m. Aug. 31, will be limited to family members, friends and selected guests and is expected to draw dignitaries, musicians and other high-profile figures from around the world.
