Tyscot Racks Up Stellar Award Nominations

Tyscot Records and its affiliated artists and label partners have earned a combined 27 Stellar Gospel Music Award nominations on the final Stellar Awards ballot for the 34th annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards which take place Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

Leading Tyscot’s nominations – with 9 – is 19-year-old South Carolina native, Kelontae Gavin, who has been the talk of the gospel music industry over the last year with his dynamic radio smash, “No Ordinary Worship,” which has amassed millions of streams and currently sits in the Top Ten on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart.

Cheryl Fortune, who has spent years in the background of the music industry as a songwriter of No. 1 Billboard hits and a vocal arranger, stepped forward as a soloist this year. Her heartfelt debut album, “Simply Cheryl,” brings 7 nods, including the coveted New Artist of the Year. Her Top Ten album combines old school R&B rhythms with faith-based messages of hope and triumph.

Other Tyscot-affiliated artists who earned a place on this year’s ballot include Tyscot Records founder, Bishop Leonard Scott; seasoned artist and entrepreneur, Vashawn Mitchell; Bishop Noel Jones and his City of Refuge Sanctuary Choir; veteran TV host and recording artist, Javen; and 21-year-old acoustic soul singer/guitarist, C West.
