Gospel Music Celebrated At BMI Trailblazer Honors

It was a great day for Gospel Music as Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) hosted its 18th Annual Trailblazers of Gospel Music honors on Saturday, January 14th at the Rialto Center for the Arts in Atlanta Georgia.

This was the night that the music community paid tribute to the award winning singer and songwriter Pastor Marvin Sapp for his many contributions to the Gospel Music genre.  The star studded event was hosted by Yolanda Adams and VaShawn Mitchell.

Kirk Franklin’s Wanna Be Happy? was celebrated as BMI’s Most Performed Song of the Year.  The song served as the first single from Franklin’s latest CD effort and spent some 45 weeks on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs Chart.

Performances for the evening came from Travis Greene, Zacardi Cortez, Bishop Paul S. Morton, Tasha Cobbs, Isaac Carree, Todd Dulaney, Jonathan McReynolds and others.  The BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Honors will air on January 29th on TV One.
