Gabriel Hardeman Passes

The Gospel Music Community is saddened with news of the passing of noted singer/songwriter Gabriel Hardeman on Saturday, June 16th. 

Hardeman was the founder of the Gabriel Hardeman Delegation which recorded for both the Birthright and Savoy labels in the 70s and 80s as well as Crystal Rose in the 90s.  His biggest hit with the Delegation was Feels Like Fire which  appeared on the self titled 1982 Birthright LP.  The song was also recorded by the Gospel Music Workshop of America and nominated for the prestigious Grammy award.

Gabriel’s compositions appeared on several other projects including the Wilmington Chester Mass Choir (Its Mighty Nice to Be on the Lord’s Side) the Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar Mass Choir (I Tried Him for Myself).  Gabriel and his wife Annette would also compose I Feel Good which was recorded by Stephanie Mills and Love Under New Management recorded by Micki Howard and the Kurt Carr Singers.
