Abyssinian Mass CD Debuts In Top 20 on Billboard Chart

The recording of Wynton Marsalis’ Abyssinian Mass featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and the 70 voice Chorale LeChateau conducted by Damien Sneed takes a bow at #12 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart.  The work celebrates the 200th anniversary of the famed Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem and the recording captures performances from the Abyssinian Mass Tour that took place in 2013.

Its a glorious fusion of church service and big band weaved together and is receiving rave reviews from the Chicago Tribune and the Wall Street Journal.
