Trin-i-tee 5:7 Splits With Record Label
The trailblazing, fashion-forward, gospel girl group Trin-i-tee 5:7 has parted ways with their label Music World Gospel.
The group began their career in 1998 with the GospoCentric/B-Rite Music label and made a splash with the crossover hit “God’s Grace,” penned and produced by R. Kelly. However, after their disenchantment with the label’s promotion of their 2003 album The Kiss, the group sought a release from their contract.
In 2005, the ladies signed with Music World Gospel, a label headed by Mathew Knowles. Trin-i-tee 5:7 has received some of their highest accolades during their time with the label. Their 2008 album T57 earned a Grammy nomination and also won two Dove Awards. The group became a duo last year with the departure of Adrian Anderson, and released their latest album Angel & Chanelle which hit #1 on the Billboard Gospel charts.
Music World is still the label home of several gospel artists such as Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Le’Andria Johnson, Amber Bullock, Brian Courtney Wilson and Juanita Bynum II. In addition, the winner of the current season of BET’s Sunday Best singing competition will win a recording contract with the label.
