Lawrence Matthews – Where Ya Been?

Lawrence Matthews happens to posses one of the most distinctive voices in gospel music.  A student of the Hawkins School, he burst on the scene with Call on Jesus from the Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar Have Mercy project and followed up with Vindicate Me from the Bay Area Chapter of the EHMAS project.  He also was featured on Hold On, the title cut of the debut release of the Greater Victory Temple COGIC Choir produced by Patrick Henderson.  Signing with Gospocentric Records, he released two well received projects.    Lawrence Matthews and Friends dropped in 1994 and charted at number 16 on the Billboard Charts while his follow up project, All I Have charted at number 12.  After a long hiatus, he independently released Jesus How I Love You in May, 2011.
