Cissy Houston to be Honored at Gospel Image Awards
Award winning gospel and soul singer Cissy Houston, mother of the late Whitney Houston and grandmother of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown, will be honored at the Gospel Image Awards in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The multiple Grammy winning singer will be awarded the lifetime achievement honor at Saturday’s event, held at Halton Theater. “Miss Cissy has worked for the gospel industry for a very, very long time and she’s very deserving of this award,” said Diana Davis, Gospel Image Awards executive producer.
Houston was in the Drinkard Singers and well-known vocal group the Sweet Inspirations, who performed alongside artists like Aretha Franklin, Elvis, and countless others. She won two Grammys in 1998 and 1996 for traditional soul gospel albums.
