Roy Cotton II Accepts Challenge To Bring Back The Hymns
Roy Cotton II remembers church the way it used to be. Every Sunday, he looked forward to the beginning of service as he knew to expect the choir to do an anthem and a hymn in its selection of music before they launched into the standard Gospel music medley. This rich tradition was one he carried with him as he grew in skill and (musical) stature, matriculating through the prestigious Hampton University and serving as minister of music at churches across the country.
Cotton brings the lighter fluid to kindle the flame that heightens our awareness and appreciation of hymns in the worship experience. Bring Back the Hymns gathers Gospel music’s finest including Kathy Taylor, Chrystal Rucker, Bishop Paul S. Morton, Chester D.T. Baldwin, Dr. Judith Christie-McAllister, Oscar Williams and Candy West to celebrate the songs that serve as the foundation of the Church. Cotton’s SoundShed worship technology company leads the way in providing STEMS (separated tracks enhancing musicians and singers) for Hymns to be used in churches nationwide. In proof and validation of his full investment in the Hymns movement, his 4 year old goes around the house impressing family and friends with his knowledge of the first and fourth verses of Revive Us Again.
Bring Back the Hymns makes its official debut August 30th.
