Daniel Weatherspoon Takes Us To Langley Park
Daniel Weatherspoon is without question a musical wonder. With a career spanning some two decades, Weatherspoon has collaborated with Gospel royalty including Bebe Winans, Donald Lawrence, Vashawn Mitchell and the Clark Sisters. Humble beginnings in Chicago playing for his home church allowed him exposure to some of the city’s best and brightest and allowed him the time to shape and hone his skills before going on to larger stages across the country with both Gospel and mainstream artists.
In the Langley Park Project (named for the area where he resides with his wife and children in Maryland) , the multi award winning music director gets the opportunity to express his musical creativity in his own voice. “It is an emotional record for me,” said Weatherspoon. “I wanted to deliver something people can enjoy it but more importantly understand the way I think as a musician. As a jazz pianist, I want people to listen to this project and appreciate the sounds and expressions I choose and hope they connect to me … to connect to my point of view.”
The Langley Park Project hits digital outlets on October 21st. Catch a sneek peak of Brother featuring the incomparable Tommy Sims.
