Gospel 411: Williams Brothers, Ted Winn, Hez, Harvey Watkins, Clark Sisters, Paul Morton and more

Tuesday saw the release of the new project from Bishop Paul Morton.  Ted Winn composed 2 songs for the project; Living In His Favor (the Curse is Broken) and The Best Is Yet to Come.  Many will remember The Best Is Yet to Come from Ted and Sheri’s The Healing Starts Here 2001 CD.  Karen Clark Sheard joins Bishop Morton on a revamped remake of the Thomas Whitfield classic, The Grass Withereth. There is also a nice family track featuring Bishop Morton, son PJ and daughter Jasmine. Jasmine’s husband and film producer Elvin Ross is generating buzz around his documentary that continues the story of the descendants of Kunta Kinteh, popularized in the Alex Haley Roots miniseries of the 1970s. You can view the trailer and website here: http://www.kuntakintehislandmovie.com/

In Clark Sisters news, congratulations goes out to Bishop J. Drew Sheard (husband of Karen, father of Kierra and J Drew III and Karew Record Label co founder) on his election to the 12 member General Board for the 6 million member Church of God in Christ denomination.  Sheard received over 2,600 votes during the elections held in St. Louis at the Holy Convocation.

Producer Stan Jones tweeted about studio time with Harvey Watkins Jr. (of the Canton Spirituals) and The Williams Brothers and Lee Williams.  Projects are scheduled for release sometime in 2013

When does Donald Lawrence sleep? Following his performance on the weekend at the COGIC confab in St. Louis, Lawrence alloted time for studio work on a new Hezekiah Walker project.  Lawrence also noted that  Love Fellowship alum Timiney Figueroa – Caton (who is currently featured on the new single from the Kurt Carr Singers) is featured on a new Hez track.  Donald Lawrence and Company will celebrate New Years in London, England.

Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir records a new project this weekend.  Plans are underway for BTC to be a part of the Obama Inauguration festivities.
