Thomas Dorsey Award Notable Achievement Recipient Dr. Marabeth Gentry
This year, the Stellar Awards will honor the work of Dr. Marabeth Gentry, President of the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses with the Thomas A. Dorsey Most Notable Achievement Award. The NCGCC was founded by the father of Gospel music Thomas Dorsey in 1932 and is the oldest African American organization dedicated to singing Gospel music. Dr. Gentry, a lifelong member of NCGCC and former educator serves as the organization’s third president (and first female president) assuming the leadership mantle after the passing of Bishop Kenneth Moales.
