SAY AMEN, SOMEBODY (1982) has been inducted into the National Film Registry. George T. Nierenberg’s beloved film tells the story of Thomas Dorsey and the beginning of Gospel choirs and choruses and their conventions.
At the heart of this film are Zella Jackson Price, The Barrett Sisters, Thomas A. Dorsey, Willie Mae Ford Smith and the chorus of gospel singers who make this film transcendent. This distinction is a celebration of their joyous talent.
