lava joins others across the country mourning the passing of noted songwriter, music minister and Houston native Dr. Theola Booker. Dr. Booker served for 45 years as minister of music at the Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church in Houston, where her husband served as pastor, recording several projects including“I’m An Heir” and “God’s Been Good” recorded by the Greater St. Matthew Mass Choir and Theola Booker and Friends with the Greater St. Matthew Choir. Dr Booker was an integral part of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, having served as Assistant Chapter Representative for the Houston Chapter of the GMWA.
