GOSPELflava and the Gospel Community is saddened with news of the passing of renowned  musician, singer and songwriter Elder George Jordan of Chicago, Illinois.

A native of Detroit Michigan, Jordan moved to Chicago in 1960 and accepted the position of Minister of Music for the Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Maceo Woods.  He would go on to lead the famed Christian Tabernacle Concert Choir for more than 40 years.

Millions tuned in as the famed Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir delivered a rousing rendition of TCarol Cymbalahe Battle Hymn of the Republic at the 57th Presidential Inauguration.  Over the last 40 years, BTC has been the recipient of many awards including six Grammy Awards and a cache of Dove Awards while selling over 4 million CDs and recording 28 albums. Leading the charge of this 285 member musical aggregation is the first lady of Brooklyn Tabernacle and founder of BTC, Carol Cymbala.
