34th Annual Dove Award Nominees
The nominees for the 34th Annual Dove Awards have been announced by
the Gospel Music Association (GMA), and are to be awarded on April 25, 2002 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
Dove Awards nominations go to recordings released during the Eligibility Year November 1, 2000 through October 31, 2001 and voted on by the 5,000 member Gospel Music Association.
Multiple Gospel artists were nominated in various and diverse categories, including several artists (Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Shirley Caesar and Nicole C. Mullen) who received multiple nominations.

In addition, The Souljahz were nominated for New Artist of the Year and Nicole C. Mullen as Female Vocalist of the Year. Mullen was also given a nod for Song of the Year ("Come Unto Me").
Kirk Whalum's The Gospel According to Jazz Chapter 2 as well as the In The Spirit project were nominated in the Instrumental Album of the Year category. Brooklyn Tabernacle's Be Glad was nominated for Inspirational Album of the Year.
In video categories, Kirk Franklin's "Brighter Day" and Trin-i-tee 5:7's "Holla" were nominated for Best Short Form Music Video of the Year.
