Free To Worship Hammond hits the community with a brand new release, Free To Worship, a fourteen-track effort that serves as the follow up to Hammond's most personal project, Something 'Bout Love, from 2004. Since that album, Hammond has gone through several major changes, including moving his home, church, and production base from Detroit to Dallas. So it's no surprise that this project is recorded live in his new church home, The Potter's House. The geographical change is accompanied by new musical surroundings as well. While some familiar voices such as PamKenyon Donald, Charles Laster and Davey Hammond continue with Hammond, he partners with some new voices which adequately expand and further his trademark sound. Caltomeesh "Candy" West and Bobby Sparks, known for their work with Kirk Franklin, both contribute to the project, providing background vocals and instrumental support respectively. In addition, both Sparks and West co-write a number of songs with Hammond including "Keep On Praisin'" and "Every Time I Think". From the 70's influenced "L.O.U.D. L.O.U.D.", to the joyous "This Is The Day", Hammond excitedly celebrates the freedom found in true worship. His transparency is evident in the heartfelt "No Greater Love" and the exceptionally candid "Simply Put". His colorful use of similes takes center stage on "Lord Your Grace" and the mellow yet infectious "More of You." No matter how you slice it, the excellence that has been the hallmark of Hammond's ministry continues with this latest effort. Amid the legend's prodigious discography, you'd be hard pressed to find a more profound release than Free To Worship. It's another must-add to your music library.
