Y’Anna Crawley<\/strong> won our hearts over on Season 2 of BET Sunday Best<\/strong> with her humble presence and power packed yet\u00a0sultry sound. It’s no surprise that she has been nominated in 2 categories for the 2012 Stellar Awards<\/strong>. Y’anna<\/strong> released “The Promise<\/em>” in late 2010 and received great acclaim. The project has a relevant sound and touches on some serious issues that are pervasive in the lives of women worldwide. Y’Anna <\/strong>continues\u00a0to travel and spread her message. I am sure we are all definitely proud of the work she continues to do musically, and in the community with her non-profit organizations.\u00a0 Y’Anna has been nominated in the “New Artist of the Year<\/em>” catergory and the “Contemporary Female Category<\/em>” for the 2012\u00a0Stellar Awards.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We talked with her about her nominations and what the journey has been like as a new artist:<\/p>\n

GOSPELflava.com :<\/strong> You’ve been nominated in two categories this year, how does it feel
\nas a new national artist?<\/p>\n

Y’Anna Crawley<\/strong>: Can I scream?? WOW, 2 Stellar Award Nominations as a New Artist !!! I’m still pinching myself. I was in Nashville during the official press conference. I was sitting in the green room area after my performance when the list of the nominees for “New Artist of the Year” category\u00a0were displayed. Tears filled my eyes when my name appeared on the screen. When I realized that I was up for “Contemporary Female Vocalist of The Year” with two of the ladies I’ve always admired–Yolanda Adams & Kim Burrell, I was even more shocked. To be considered along side these ladies who have paved the way and are veterans in this industry, is\u00a0humbling\u00a0! It feels great to even\u00a0be recognized for your efforts as a new comer.<\/p>\n

GOSPELflava.com :<\/strong> What has been the most profound lesson you have\u00a0learned as an artist
\nsince your win on Sunday Best<\/strong>?<\/p>\n

Y’Anna Crawley:\u00a0 <\/strong>The most profound lesson I’ve learned since my win on Sunday Best<\/strong> is the importance of\u00a0hard work and determination.\u00a0 You’ve got to\u00a0have a team of people around you that believe in you and\u00a0have the ability to keep you motivated.\u00a0 This has been quite a journey, but God\u00a0continues to keep\u00a0His promise to me.\u00a0For that\u00a0I am truly grateful.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

GOSPELflava.com: <\/strong>Whose performance are you most excited about seeing this year?<\/p>\n

Y’anna Crawley:<\/strong>I’m not sure who all of the performers are, but I’ve gotten wind that two of my hometown folks are going to be hitting the stage. I’m definitely looking forward to Uncle Richard’s (Richard Smallwood<\/strong>)\u00a0perfomance as well as Earnest Pugh<\/strong>.\u00a0 They both have been quite an encouragement to me on my journey.\u00a0
