22-year old singer-songwriter-guitarist, C West, has penned a plaintive new folk-rockish ballad about the life he dreams of with his real-life fianc\u00e9e, Katie Soriano, whom he\u2019s dated since 2016. The hauntingly poetic ballad \u201cWest\u201d (MBE\/Tyscot\/Warner Music Group) is set against a mellow acoustic template from which West sings of nearly empty gas tanks, waterfalls and the sun setting in the west. West is the sole musician, creating all of the accompanying atmospherics with his own voice and Taylor 214ce guitar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI wrote this song to express my love for Katie,\u201d says West. \u201cI\u2019ve always told her that she doesn\u2019t have to change anything about herself because she is already perfect for me. As we grew deeper in love, I realized that I did want her to change one thing: her last name. In the creative process of creating this song, I wanted to do a play on words with my last name, but I really struggled. I sat down and I asked God to help me write a song about her and that\u2019s when it all began to come together. Katie reminds me of a beautiful sunset. It rises in the east and it sets in the west. This song is about settling down.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An only child, the Buffalo, NY native was a self-proclaimed Jesus Freak as a teenager and as a result, was treated as an outcast by his high school peers. He often retreated to his bedroom with his guitar as his primary companion. They\u2019d make heartfelt and sometimes dark music together. His musical influences range from Prince and Maxwell to Tori Kelly, Ed Sheeran and John Mayer. While a student at Villa Maria College, he won a \u201cDiscovered\u201d singing contest sponsored by MBE Enterprises in Atlanta. First prize was a recording contract with MBE and Tyscot Records. His eclectic debut album, “Hide and Seek” (MBE\/Tyscot), was released in 2017.
