Douglas bounced back from a near fatal health crisis a couple of years ago, he\u2019s newly married and is a father again. Douglas has got a lot to celebrate including his current No. 1 hit \u201cOh How I Love You\u201d by Zacardi Cortez. The soulful, retro-styled power ballad has spent 11 weeks at the top of the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The soul-stirring track anchors Douglas best-selling, <strong><em>Kerry Douglas Presents Gospel Mix Volume X<\/em><\/strong> (Black Smoke Music), album series that he created to launch the careers of aspiring artists such as Earnest Pugh and James Fortune\u00a0&amp; FIYA. The project features several No. 1 gospel songs that he\u2019s promoted over the years such as Cortez\u2019 \u201cYDIA,\u201d Pugh\u2019s \u201cI Need Your Glory,\u201d and the classic Greg O\u2019Quinn tune, \u201cI Told the Storm.\u201d It also features James Fortune &amp; FIYA\u2019s No. 1 smashes \u201cI Believe\u201d and \u201cI Trust You\u201d which spent an astounding 29 weeks at the top of the chart \u2013 a Billboard chart record. The set also includes Top 10 hits such as Damon Little\u2019s \u201cI Won\u2019t Be Defeated,\u201d Pugh\u2019s \u201cSurvive\u201d and Jermaine Dolly\u2019s \u201cServe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the 1990s, Douglas started staging concerts in the Houston, TX area to draw people to his dealership to buy cars. From there, he formed his own Gospel Truth and Black Smoke record labels and started promoting quartet artists and turning them into mainstream gospel stars. He pushed Evelyn Turrentine-Agee\u2019s smash, \u201cGod Did It,\u201d which was the most played gospel song of 2001 according to BMI. He turned Damon Little\u2019s \u201cYou Can\u2019t Straddle the Fence\u201d into a radio hit and pushed Jimmy Hicks\u2019 barnburner, \u201cBorn Blessed\u201d into a massive hit. He gifted Keith \u201cWonderboy\u201d Johnson with several Top Ten hits such as \u201cHide Behind the Mountain,\u201d \u201cThe Twelve Days of Christmas\u201d and \u201cI Wanna Be Right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So, Douglas is ready to turn some more artists into stars.
