Occasionally, we dig into details of some of the LPs (that’s right –LPs) we are spinning on our turntables in the GospelFlava.com offices… <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Veteran soul singing sister Laura Lee<\/strong> took a dramatic detour into Gospel music in the early 1980s, with the release of Jesus Is The Light of My Life<\/em>, on Myrrh Records<\/em>. Co-produced by Al Green<\/strong>, and featuring organ and strings from the incomparable Jerry Peters<\/strong>, the album offered a mix of Lee’s take on some Gospel staples (“Jesus Will Fix It”, “I’ll Fly Away”).<\/p>\n

Laura Lee was born to sing the gospel. Her mom, Ernestine Rundless<\/strong> was the leader of Detroit’s Meditation Singers<\/strong>, which recorded for the Specialty<\/em> label and at one time included Della Reese<\/strong> as a member.<\/p>\n

Lee went on to record a second LP in 1984, and then devoted her time to missions work.<\/p>\n
