Recap:
19th Annual Stellar Award
Nominee Reception (2004)

The atmosphere was relaxed at the 19th Annual Stellar Awards Nominee Reception. Many were just excited to be apart of the fest-filled weekend in Houston.

Hosts for the dinner were Central City Productions Chairman Don Jackson, along with Gospel mogul, Dr. Bobby Jones.

Mary Mary with The Kenoly BrothersSince this is the first time that the Stellar Awards were held in Houston, many of the local area pastors and government officials were on hand to give their blessings. That included were Pastor Greg Patrick, Mayor Elect Bill White, Representative (Congresswoman) Sheila Jackson Lee, and City Councillor Michael Berry.

After a moving video tribute to Yolanda Adams by a few people that have played a vital part in her musical career, the nominees for all 27 Stellar Awards were presented, and their nomination certificates handed out expeditiously, but in an enthusiastic manner.

Music came courtesy of the The McDonald's Youth Choir. This year’s winner was Chosen Generation, the Windsor Village United Methodist Church Youth Choir. The enthusiastic choir sang a couple of songs, including "Deliver" (the hit from Youthful Praise).

K&K Mime interpreted "Stand", by Donnie McClurkin (the original version of the song, which first appeared on the Ron Winans Family & Friends IV album) with sheer passion and excellence.

Stellar Gospel Talent Search winner Micah Stampley sang "The Corinthian Song", written by V. Michael McKay. Micah's vocal ability and delivery is like that of a veteran gospel artist, and he quickly had the throngs on their feet.

Bishop Paul Morton then brought the house down with his vocal acrobats on the choir-accompanied “Let It Rain”. It was worshipful music featuring that preacher squawl that only Bishop Morton can deliver.

The nomination dinner left a greater anticipation for the awards show itself.
