RECAP: Nominee Dinner at the 23rd Annual Stellar Awards (2008)
The Official 23rd Annual Stellar Award Nominee Dinner took place on Friday, January 11th in the Governor's Ballroom at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. The industry's Who's Who were in place to ensure that everyone was honored for their contribution to making this a banner year in Gospel music.
Hosted by Tye Tribbett and Vickie Winans, the evening was full of energetic acts, including Billy Rivers and the Angelic Voices of Faith, out of Memphis. Kathy Taylor Brown brought the house down, or shall we say, "way up" with "Jesus". Chicagoland favorite Darius Brooks also ministered with his hit, "Your Will".
The Alliance Agency's Roger Holmes, Zomba Gospel's Jackie Patillo and New Haven Records' Ken Harding made an appeal on behalf of the Gospel Music Trust Fund, a Nashville-based organization whose mission is to supply emergency assistance in times of need to those who have made their living in Gospel music.
As nominees were acknowledged in every category, Gospel's industry family chatted away with each other. Peeped on the scene were Stephania Andry, Bishop Noel Jones, Integrity's recent signee Jonathan Nelson with wife Chrissy, Black Gospel Promo's Veda Brown, Byron Cage, Canton Jones, Bishop Nathaniel Bond, Integrity's Demetrius Summerville, Ignition PR's Jojo Pada, West coast radio heavy hitter Frank Walton, Zomba Gospel's Damon Williams, former RFCer Freddie Purifoy, and many more!
