RECAP: Central South Gospel Showcase at the 23rd Annual Stellar Awards (2008)
Central South Gospel (CSG) is a major player in Gospel music with its successful distribution of some of the best independent Gospel artists around. The spotlight shone their way at the Gibson Showcase venue, on Friday, Jan 11th, during the weekend of the 23rd Annual Stellar Awards. It was a display of some of veteran and upcoming artist affiliated with CSG.
In honor of Radio Announcers, several artists performed or presented awards. The crowd was treated to rousing performances from Tamela Mann to Martha Munizzi to the foot stomping "It's Your Season" by Norman Hutchins.
Akitunde kept the crowd warmed up with some funny jokes, while a slimmed down "Mr. Brown" aka David Mann did what he does best act a fool.
Jerard Woods showcased his phenomenal vocals, demonstrating that he is more than a professional background singer.
At the evening showcase, Micah Stampley, Jason Nelson and Milete Woods served as a wonderful trio of praise and worship leaders to start the night. David and Nicole Binion added their special touch of inspirational and praise and worship songs. The soothing voice of Nicole Binion could have been enjoyed for a whole concert while the background singers were solid.
Jason Nelson sang a few songs definitely an artist to look out for in 2008, while Norman Hutchins showed some of his guitar strumming skills.
Others featured on the showcase were Martha Munizzi and Marvin "Coconut" Winans Jr.
