What A Wonderful Time What A Wonderful Time is a list of your favorite Christmas songs, five of your holiday favorites and five original pieces relevant for now and for years to come. There is nothing so classic about Adams' take on the classics. A full-on jazz presentation of Rogers and Hammerstein's Sound of Music hit "Favorite Things", is tweaked by Michael J. Powell. "Jingle Bells" is given an equally jazzy treatment rounded out by strings from the Nashville String Machine. The ever-sweet "Give Love on Christmas Day" doesn't depart far from the Michael Jackson-performed original. The illustrative power of the lyric to "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is made more powerful by Adams' signature ability to express them, down to the gospel driven vamp and back again.
Of the original tunes, Adams co-writes the title cut "What a Wonderful Time" along with Maxx Frank. Can you say "Big Band-O-Rama"? Full swing orchestra in stride and horns sweeping through, the song ends almost as quickly as it starts. John "Jubu" Smith is featured on the acoustic guitar driven "Hold On", a year-round song with a year-round message of hope, strength and endurance. Frank joins together with Eric Dawkins to pen "Just Because" and Gregory Curtis contributes "With God". A fresh take on music for the holidays, Yolanda Adams' What A Wonderful Time combines comfortable familiarity and daringly forges into the future.
