Vicki Yohe is no stranger to Gospel music.

Familiar to fans of TBN as well as to worship-oriented ministries across the country, Yohe is Cece Winans' choice to break a release (apart from herself) on her own label, the recently renamed Pure Springs Gospel (formerly Wellspring Gospel).

The Gospel world has anxiously waited to see what artist would be deemed worthy of the Cece stamp of approval. Winans, the reigning class act in the industry, would surely yield some great releases, and Yohe does not fail (listen to the audio)

The title track "I Just Want You" sheds some light on the project's focus. When it all comes down to it, Christ Jesus is the only one who can fulfill. Landy Maughon pens the passionate plea and gives us a peak at the eloquent expression in Yohe's voice.

Christopher Harris is at the production helm, with previous success with Avalon, Anointed and Cece Winans and gives the project an adult contemporary worship feel.

"Because Of Who You Are", a tune written by Martha and Dan Munizzi has fast become a praise and worship classic. Yohe's rendition relishes the fluidity of the melody until The Born Again Church Choir's entry near the end provides some choral punctuation.

Yohe's own hit, "Mercy Seat" (written in 1996 by Stephen Richardson, Jeffrey Harpole and Mark Carouthers and first appearing on Yohe's Everlasting Love project), is given a midtempo light rock facelift, with notable guitar by Gary Burnett.

Then Yohe joins with Harris and Kent Hooper in writing "You Amaze Me", a free-flowing ballad where she sings of the awe one experiences in reflecting on God. Simple in structure with piano, cello and additional keys allows Yohe's voice preeminence.

Jerry McPherson and Burnett drive the guitar infused jam "Almighty" that is also peppered with horns by Mike Haynes. "Talkin' Bout Jesus" leads you into a sure church sway. Elijah "D.D." Holt heats up the B-3 and does some talkin' of his own.

I Just Want You is a solid showing for Winans' yet budding label. Veteran worshipper Yohe brings stability and yet a newness to the faces in Gospel as she guides us beyond the veil.

An easy listening project with quality vocals and production, Vicki Yohe continues her climb to higher heights in worship; and thankfully we can go with her.
