Balance Now, Winn begins the next chapter in his storied career, with his debut solo effort titled Balance (hear the audio clips). Eleven tracks strong, this offering showcases another level of Winn's musical depth; he pens ten songs on the project, adding his production hand as well. He also brings in production assistance from some of the industry's most exciting live producers. Daniel Moore II, whose production credits include The Anointed Pace Sisters and Sheri Jones-Moffett, lends his touch to over half of the album while playing keys on the entire album. Justin Savage comes in to co-produce the album's funkiest track "Reap". Winn has no shortage of fantastic partnerships. His all-star list of background vocalists throughout the album includes Latrice Pace, Josiah Woods, Yolanda "Sha" Simpson, Tasha Cobb, Darwin Hobbs, Rachel Bethea-James, and Janae Flack. Vanessa Bell Armstrong adds her signature vocals to "His Favor"; this vocal pairing makes for a memorable moment on the project. Don't miss "Great Is Our God", which features Myron Butler, Jonathan Nelson, and DeWayne Woods. This song is a hit waiting to happen, with an incredibly infectious vamp and some of the best male singing on wax in a long time. Winn's leadoff radio single, "God Believes In You" remains powerful and is attached to the powerful "No Weapon". "Moving Forward", penned by Ricardo Sanchez and Israel Houghton, gets a worthy cover. Winn's Richard Smallwood influence shines on "Oh My Soul", which features great string arrangements from Daniel Moore II. Equally impressive is the old school soul tinged title track which speaks to the importance of a balanced life. Winn's solo effort has been a long time coming and has been well worth the wait. He strikes the ideal "Balance" between great vocal placement, creative and intelligent lyrics, and wonderful music. Be certain to add this touch of Balance to your musical catalogue.
