Nuwine
Mission: Possible
Nuwine may just be the hardest working emcee in the hip-hop world.
He certainly is prolific. His latest project, the 13-track Mission: Possible, is the rapper's tenth project in the last six years, which is a phenomenal pace for any artist to maintain.
Nuwine uses Mission: Possible to showcase some of his new material and feature other hot acts from the Dallas, Texas area. It represents the third compilation disc from Wine-O Records.
The intro sets the stage as Nuwine uses an excerpt from President Bush's 2001 address to America concerning the "War on Terrorism". However, using the sample to lead into the title cut, Nuwine makes it clear that the mission to destroy the enemy and introduce the world to Christ is possible.
With that said, Nuwine and company embark on a project that combines styles from Midwest Cruisin' to Dirty South Bumpin', all to lift the name of the Lord.
The title cut "Mission: Possible" is classic Nuwine as he combines thought-provoking lyrics and trademark outbursts over a killer track to let us know that Christ is taking over. On "Move Over" Nuwine addresses varying relationships that people form and urges us to be cautious and aware of those whom we label as friends.
Nuwine also brings forth the intriguing "My Fault". Here, he rhymes from the perspective of Adam at creation. He chronicles the walk of Adam and David and the areas in which they fell. It's a powerful song that gives you insight on how two notable Old Testament personalities dealt with their errors. The hook features a slant on the popular hit from Silkk the Shocker titled "It Ain't My Fault".
Even a quick listen to this album reveals that Nuwine has overcome the pain expressed on his last project and has returned to a more upbeat outlook on situations. With that, he includes a familiar face as fellow emcee Lil' Raskull brings his skills to the mic on the jam "Stick Yo Neck Out". Check the chorus and you get an idea of where Raskull is flowing:
"We're giving sight to the blind when Ras comes to town
So stick yo neck out, stick yo neck out
Tell the devil go town where the sun don't shine and
stick yo neck out, stick yo neck out"
Raskull, like Nuwine, has no problem delivering the Word in an in-your-face manner, lacing it straight, all designed to show no fear or respect for the devil. Ras and Nuwine team up again on "What You Wanna Do". The combination of Ras and Nuwine are a potent force to be reckoned with.

As for the new talent that Nuwine introduces, there’s definite appeal from Dooney, who’s featured on "Let 'em Know". Dooney brings a ton of energy to this track, which ranks a ten on the "bounce" scale. Again, Nuwine knows how to hook up duo-style, this being another exciting hip-hop tag team bound to wreak havoc on the enemy's kingdom. With similarities to St. Louis' Nelly, Dooney talks about the joys and realities of "livin' that saved life". You definitely want to give this track a listen.
Nuwine shows the world that the father-son partnership of Master P and Lil' Romeo aren't the only ones making waves. Introducing his son Lil' Maurice on the tracks "Handle It" and "Look Up", he showcases a heavy "No Limit Soldier" tip, a new venture for Nuwine. For sure, Lil' Maurice holds his own on those tracks, proving that the lyrical apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Also featured is Guerilla Maab 3D2, a crew who team with Lil' Raskull on the track "What the Lord Has Done For Me". These MCs offer a more chill presentation, bordering more on the line of Urban Praise & Worship. The song is a definite testimony of how the Lord has blessed the group they are willing to offer Him sincere praise.
The album ends with Nuwine making an appeal to lost souls to know Christ.
Make no mistake, Nuwine is back and with a vengeance. He shows that you can come back from pain and hurt and be an overcomer. He has returned with some friends and embarked on a mission to deliver the good news of Christ to a lost world.
Indeed, the mission is successful!!
