Martha Munizzi
Say The Name
Former Music Director of Clint Brown's Faithworld in Orlando, Florida, Martha Munizzi's solo debut Say The Name not only displays her love for energetic praise and meditative worship, but also showcases her considerable songwriting talent.
Recorded live at Faithworld, Munizzi is supported by a raucous choir, some great backing vocalists and enthusiastic band crew that includes Clint Brown on keys and some evident flair for horns on uptempo cuts.
"Because of Who You Are" is the centrepiece of the project, a gorgeous 8-minute-plus journey into vertical worship, with Munizzi leading the slow-tempo call and response, laced with soft keyboard chording and a fabulous bridge that offers up all of the names of God. (The song has taken on a life of its own in the short time of its existence, with The Kenoly Brothers covering the song on their sophomore project No Distance).
Songs such as "Holy Spirit Fill This Room" are highlighted by Munizzi’s soaring vocals. She fills the composition and expresses the melody without ever distracting from the evident lyrical power.
The title track "Say The Name" is another meditative gem with its sweet backing chorus and powerful lines (“When you can’t find the words to say, say the name of Jesus”).
“At All TImes” is a B3-blessed choir groove with Munizzi providing encouragement. It goes well with other praise romps on the project (“Rejoice”, “Shout”).
