Let’s Get Quiet: The Smooth Jazz Experience As one of the founders and architects of the Gospel jazz movement, Tankard has been one of the most successful artists of this micro-genre. With countless awards and accolades to his credit, the “Piano Prophet” delivers his latest project with a new focus and an innovative approach. This is Tankard’s first foray into the area of smooth jazz, which is a popular classification within the overall jazz circuit. While previous efforts have focused on energetic praise and celebration, Tankard concentrates on bringing peace and relaxation to listeners this time out. Handling the bulk of production and performing duties, Tankard focuses primarily on instrumental offerings with very few vocal accompaniments. The title track does, however, feature the passionate vocals of Shelly Massey, who also lends her talents to “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”, a cover of the Al Green classic. Speaking of covers, Tankard breaks new ground, masterfully covering popular secular tunes such as Patrice Rushen’s “Remind Me” and the funky Frankie Beverly classic “Before I Let Go”. Tankard shines on other smooth tracks such as “Week-End Forecast”, “Slow Jam W.B.E.N.”, and the gorgeous hymn “I Come to The Garden Alone”. This twelve-track album is another jewel in the Tankard discography that’s certain to usher in peace and tranquility to all who listen.
