Gospel recording artist DeLeon Richards and LA Dodger baseball great Gary Sheffield were married Saturday, February 5, 2000 in St. Petersburg, Florida. DeLeon's bridesmaids included her friends from Chicago and her former manager Regina Chamberlain. The junior bridesmaids were Ebony and Carissa Sheffield (Gary's daughters from a previous marriage). Gary's groomsmen included major league baseball stars Dwight Gooden (who is also Gary's uncle), Vincent Barber, Eric Davis and Ray Lankford. Officiating was Bishop Noel Jones. The wedding started promptly at 6:00 PM, as DeLeon made her rose petal entrance to the live band performance of "Ribbon In The Sky". She then sang "Straight From The Heart" to her husband with an accompaniment from Jerry Peters' band. During communion, CeCe Winans sang "For Always". Yolanda Adams sang "That Name" during the lighting of the unity candle. The large reception was attended by dozens of major league baseball players and NFL football players, as well as LA Dodger's manager Davey Johnson. Both Tonéx and Yolanda Adams performed during the reception, which was fully soul-food catered, and lasted until early in the morning. Email This To A Friend
