With Live in London still generating massive spins and sales, it’s hard to fathom that it’s time for more music from Donnie McClurkin. But it is true, and once you hear that album, you realize that it is not too soon!

Coinciding with the Stellar Awards in Atlanta was a sneak preview listening party for Donnie McClurkin’s next album, titled …Again. Hosted by Verity Records and attended by several national retail, media and record label staffers, the 2 hour event was MC’d by McClurkin himself.

Sitting on a stool in front of a large reproduction of the album cover and with DJ Joe B. spinning the new music, McClurkin gave some background to the new songs, describing what his aim was in writing and performing each of them.

Maybe it’s too obvious to say that the album is wonderful, but we’ll declare it anyway. It is.

“My Prayer”, the tender, strings-laced duet with Yolanda Adams and written by David Foster is already making waves on radio, and it will continue to rise. The inspirational “Yes You Can” with its children’s chorus, and “All I Ever Really Wanted” are classic Donnie.

Another future hit is the praise and worship song “He Is Holy”, and the contrasting “Special Gift”, the cover of the Walter Hawkins classic that McClurkin sings with Lynette Hawkins-Stephens. He calls it ‘a hardcore gutbucket Gospel song’.
