Yolanda Adams Best of Yolanda Adams
Sometimes you get an artists “Best of” project and wonder who picked
the songs. In this case,
Verity Records does a nice job of capturing truly the
best of Yolanda Adams. From
almost the beginning of her solo career with Through the Storm,
through to her last Verity release Songs from the Heart in 1998,
we are reminded of the years of incredible music she has brought us.
With some of the greatest writers and producers at her disposal, we
have been afforded the complete package in Adams’ projects. Favorites
like “You Know that I Know”, an in-your-face groove written by Adams
and Greg Curtis, was produced by Ben Tankard.
V. Michael McKay’s contributions of “Through the Storm”, “The Battle
is the Lord’s” and “The Good Shepherd”, without question deserve a
heavy nod. Producer Percy Bady gives us “Still I Rise” and
Parkes Stewart and Aaron Lindsay share with us “More
than A Melody”. The track listing reads like a new standard
list for aspiring soloists, “Even Me”, “Just A Prayer Away” and
“Let Us Worship Him” are examples of why Verity can’t
go wrong putting Adams out there in its series of
New Gospel
Legends.
So with The Best of Yolanda Adams, longtime fans
will find all their favored cuts in one place, and newcomers
will get a great helping with which to catch up. In this
compilation of the preeminence that is Yolanda Adams, we clearly hear the best.
