Virtue Get Ready!
Many new artists fear the dreaded ‘sophomore jinx’ when releasing
their second project. This dreaded musical plague is something that the ladies
of Virtue have absolutely nothing to worry about. The awesome foursome
have come together again to hit the world with a project which arguably
makes them the most dominant female group in Gospel today.
Alabama natives Karima Kibble, Negelle Sumter, Ebony Trotter and Shavonne
Sampson join forces with some of Gospel’s hottest producers
to put together “Get Ready!”, picking up where their self-titled debut left off. The
project kicks off with the energetic title cut, setting the stage for
a musical ride which is bound to leave your head bobbing and your spirit
refreshed. A special moment is the hip
remake of the
Walter Hawkins classic, “Be Grateful”. Definitely a
highlight of the album. Other standout cuts include: “Get Your
War Clothes On”; “Fly Away”, and “Angels Watching Over Me”.
To compliment their trademark vocals, Virtue enlists a diverse
set of writers and producers to formulate a uniquely blessed project. These include Take 6 members
Joey
and Mark Kibble, Commissioned mainstay Mitchell Jones, and
newcomer Ivan Johnson. Virtue also work with Chris
Harris (of Anointed fame) on “My Heart’s With You” and
“Love Me Like You Do”, showcasing their musical diversity. Commissioned alumnus Montrel
Darrett also contributes to the project is, writing and performing on the funky “Don’t Take
Your Joy”.
“Get Ready” is definitely an “Album of the Year” candidate, cementing
the return of Virtue and establishing them as the measuring stick for urban female groups.
