Just Right for A Miracle Podium Records is a new record label under the auspices of the Memphis-based Temple of Deliverance COGIC, founded and pastored by Bishop G.E. Patterson (known by many for his “Bountiful Blessings Ministries” on BET and TBN television networks). It makes complete sense for Podium to begin their activities with a live recording of the popular annual Soul Winner’s Conference, and few projects can go wrong by including gospel trail-blazer, Rev. Rance Allen. Allen stamps his unmistakable signature sound, complete with growling low rumbles to singingly-smooth high-flying warble phrasing, on much of the disc, but notably on two tracks: “I Love You Lord” and “Lost Without You”. Bishop Patterson takes the mike on the lengthy (20 minute) title-track medley which he begins in sermon style, and concludes by stringing together several well-known hymns. The choir piece “Praise the Lord” is also a straight-up solid power song. However, the standout on the project is the contemporary number, “Sho Nough”, where Rance Allen joins the Bishop in exchanging solo lines, framed by the choir. Then, half-way through the 8-minute celebration, the well-known veteran Betti Griffin Keller joins the jam to conclude with a rousing back-and -forth, get-down riot of energy. Together with the enjoyable long-form video of the concert recording, this project is a solid first step in the right direction for Podium Records. — reviewed by Stan North —
