Eddie Tucker
Day & Night

(Win the CD!)

Looking for something new to kickstart your 2006? Asone’ Sound Music artist Eddie Tucker's new project Day & Night might be just the ticket.

The Emmy Award winning, behind-the-scenes music man comes to the forefront with his debut project, presenting original vocals matched with soulful melodies, making the album a true stand out.

CD The Chicago native opens his album with the acoustically-seasoned “Teach Me.” His refreshing vocals are nicely showcased in this song of surrender that requests God to simply guide him in the ways he should go. Then Tucker kicks it up a notch with his current single “Our God”, filled with grooving beats and expressions of adoration. The song is reminiscent of the funky Roger Troutman tunes of old. Tucker nails this one.

Continuing to blend his signature style, Tucker takes a go at the Twila Paris tune, “Do I Trust You, Lord?” Its urban sound fused with Paris’ lyrics make a great blend. While many new artists might be shy to cover a selection from a highly noted individual such as Paris, Tucker gives great tribute while making it his very own.

When you arrive at “Wonderful”, well, the song simply lives up to its name. It is a lofty and pillowing selection made even more appealing with the saxophone accompaniment by Harley Figueroa. The lyrics to “Wonderful” are an abundance of creative adjectives that expound on the greatness of God.

“Let Your Kingdom Come” and “Fragrance” are high-impact songs of praise and worship, with the former announcing itself with a bold band entry, sounding the alert that something is about to happen, and Tucker makes good on the promise. “Fragrance” is a mellow ballad which positions the spirit in a posture purely for worship. Both songs would nicely fit into a Sunday morning worship team’s repertoire. The words are not complicated, and offer God wealthy words of homage.

Another standout on this project has to be “Second Class Citizen.” Jazzy in presentation, the cut chronicles in chapter format times of mistreatment we all at some point have endured. The vocals are thought-provoking, and with the assistance of Jahbe, make you yearn for more of the story. The overall tone expresses the fact that if we never forgive, we are considered to be second class citizens.

Tucker concludes in grand fashion with “Miracle.” This urban-influenced opus has you bobbing your head to the syncopated beat. The song’s message alerts us to get ready ourselves because our “Miracle” is on the way!

Tucker does an outstanding job on Day & Night. His song offerings have variety and continuity, something that we all search for on any CD, but only rarely find. It is these elements, coupled with Tucker’s signature expression, that make you want to play this project all Day & Night.
