Demetrius West & Authority
I Am A Worshipper

Indianapolis based group Demetrius West & Authority have burst onto the Gospel music scene with a wonderful sound on their debut project, I Am A Worshipper (read album relese concert recap).

West serves as lead vocalist on some songs, while various members of Authority take the lead on others to create a cohesive blend of mid-tempo, up-tempo, and hard hitting ballads. The project is produced by the group's music director William Amos, along with West.

CD The album opens with "Receive Our Praise", penned by Jayson Clayborn. It's a great praise and worship tune that's bound to grab your attention, and is one of those songs you could hear being sung in churches across the nation.

Then there's "Oh Give Him Glory", penned by Lamar Campbell. With its Caribbean feel, from beginning to end this song makes you want to get up on your feet and clap your hands. The group does an amazing job paying homage to the incomparable Natalie Wilson with "Glory and Honor", a classic traditional ballad known for its power-filled bridge. The project makes a beautiful transition into a worship medley called "The Medley" written by West, Jeffrey LaValley, and Eli Johnson.

The up-tempo "Things Are Looking Better" is definitely one to catch your ear. It's a feel-good song that declares that better days are ahead.

Other standout tracks include: "See Yourself" with Darryl Harris on lead vocals, "Calvary", and the CCM-inspired "Lay Your Hands On Me".

I Am A Worshipper is a wonderful project that caters to the listener who loves a traditional gospel music sound with some fusing of the contemporary.

We're looking forward to more from Demetrius West & Authority; with their crisp and classic sound, they are sure to be around for years to come.
