![]() Concert Recap The Winans Family can always be expected to do things in royal family fashion. On this their first collective tour since the early 90’s (see concert tour schedule), they do everything but disappoint. ![]() Covering hymns to hits, The Winans leave no stone unturned. The mainstay of the concert is of course classics from The Winans (brothers) early projects, including “The Question Is” and “Millions Didn’t Make It” as well as some favored cuts with Bebe and Cece like “It’s Okay” and “Heaven”. Rounding out the offerings are Angie and Debbie with selections from their 1993 and 1997 projects. Angie also steps out solo and takes a seat at the baby grand for a tune from her 2001 release Melodies of the Heart (see album review). Daniel and Pop join together for a warmly nostalgic Sam Cook reflective. Not to be outdone, Winans Phase 2 delighted with their urban delights, including "It’s Alright (Send Me)" and their cover of the Bee Gees’ melody on their "Too Much Heaven".
In a particularly fun segment, the whole family joined together and accepted audience requests for favored tunes. Highlights from each family members’ projects were touched on, in some cases reaching farther back than I thought I could even remember. The set was refined and elegant and matched the cool tone of the overall concert. Young and old alike were in attendance leave it to the Winans Family to have enough variety to permit everyone to participate. In their familiar way, they embrace and make you and make you feel like you too, are a Winans.
